The 2025 FNB Wines2Whales Pinotage is E-Bike friendly!

In 2025 we’ll once again host two E-Bike events and riders can choose between the E-Bike Open category, which starts 30 minutes ahead of A batch, or the E-Bike Tour which starts 30 minutes after the last start batch.

The E-Bike Open is for any team with one, or both, teammates on an e-bike, however these teams must be able to maintain an average speed of at least 18kph. The E-Bike Tour is for any team where one, or both, teammates are on e-bikes. The Tour is aimed at novices and stage race newbies who would like to enjoy the incredible FNB Wines2Whales route in a friendly, controlled, and guided manner.

*Please note: Riders in the E-Bike Open category with a battery swop package or a battery extender are not eligible for the E-Bike Leader Jersey

E-BIKE SERVICES

Whether you are taking on the 2025 FNB Wines2Whales as a racing snake or an E-Bike first timer, battery strategy is an important aspect of your ride. 

All E-Bike riders have the option of buying the battery swap service which allows you to have a spare battery ready and waiting for you at Water Point 2 each day. 

Battery Check-in times: 05:00 – 6:30am

This service is highly recommended and can be bought at a cost of R270 per rider.  If you have not purchased this service and would like to do so, please visit the Info Desk at Registration day to book yours.

A shuttle service will be available from Water Point 1 to Water Point 2 should you wish to avoid the compulsory portage down Gantouw pass on Stage 3.

Please note that this service is exclusively for E-Bike Tour teams and all E-Bike Open teams must complete the portage.  Shuttles will depart as they fill up and the expected travel time is approximately 40 minutes.

The 2024 FNB W2W E-Bike Open will feature podiums and the introduction of leader jerseys for the fastest teams in the following categories:

  • E-Bike Open Men (19+)
  • E-Bike Open Women (19+)
  • E-Bike Open Mixed (19+)

Women’s E-Bike Trail Tee Leader Jersey

It is important to note that in order to qualify for the E-Bike Open podium and leader jersey, both team members must ride on an E-bike. Riders with a battery swop package are not eligible for the E-Bike Leader Jersey
