KRK. ISLAND FIERCE

The final day of the 2025 4Islands Epic is a celebration of island mountain biking, it features many sections reminiscent of the best bits of the week and a few segments entirely unique to Krk.

Narrow city streets narrow further into the first singletrack, after just 2 kilometres, and then the course kicks uphill for the climb to Plato Mjeseca. For those with the energy and the breath to look around on the climb the views back over the Baška Bay are beautiful. On the Moon Plateau the trail widens to a dual track as it undulates across the barren mesa. After a fast asphalt descent the trails resume, but as the route runs in both directions on this trail (14-16km in) slower riders will have to beware of the leaders coming back towards them. Shortly after the end of the dual-direction segment the climbing concludes and a fun descent is followed by a short, sharp, climb, and a long downhill towards Kornić. An undulating 10 kilometres then take teams through paddocks of gazing sheep, dipping in and out of singletrack, across meadows and through quaint Croatian villages. But all undulations eventually come to an end, and this one ends with a long climb to Kras, at the most northern point of the stage. Once on the spine of the island the longest downhill trail of the route thrills with a drop back to sea level at Plaža Risika. The course then hugs the rugged coastline and climbs to the final feed zone of the race, above Vrbnik. A final climb takes teams into the canyon on a singletrack which ascends to 320 metres above sea level before relenting for the descent for home. A straight, 10 kilometre – almost all downhill, run to Baška begins on trails but ends with narrow Krk roads and streets. Not before a scenic farewell to the Istrian sheep, who have helped craft so many of the 4Islands Epic trails, or to the urban adventure of racing through Kvarner village streets. On the final finish line, hard earned finishers’ medals will be awarded, as will Epic Legend medals, and the champagne for the overall victors of the 2025 race.
