Slow Down: You are approaching a dangerous or highly technical section. Reduce your speed and proceed with caution.
This may include large steps, rock gardens, root sections, switchbacks, steep descents, or other challenging obstacles.

VERY DANGEROUS / TECHNICAL SECTION
Walking Speed / Dismount: You are approaching a highly dangerous or extremely technical section. Reduce your speed significantly and be prepared to dismount and walk if necessary.

This may include large drops, rock gardens, exposed sections, tight switchbacks, steep obstacles, or other features that require extra caution.

ATTENTION
Pay extra attention. A potential hazard, obstacle, or course feature is located within the next 20–50 metres.

BRIDGE OR NARROW SECTION AHEAD
Ride in single file and reduce your speed. Take extra care when passing through bridges, gates, or narrow sections to avoid handlebar contact or collisions.

TRAIN TRACK CROSSING
Extra caution must be taken when crossing both guarded and unguarded train tracks. Never cross a railway crossing when warning lights are flashing, barriers are closed, or a train is approaching. Follow all railway signals and instructions at all times.

SLIPPERY
Slippery surface ahead. Extra caution required, especially when wet.

WATER CROSSING AHEAD
You are approaching a creek or water crossing. Reduce your speed and take extra care, as rocks and surfaces may be slippery.

CARS / ROAD CROSSING
When transitioning from trail to road you need to keep in mind that you will share the road with cars. There will be no road closures, which means you need to be aware of motorists and other road users. Keep right, obey road rules, and watch for vehicles and other road users.

HIGH RISK OF FALLING
You are approaching an exposed section with a high risk of falling. Reduce your speed and proceed with extra caution.

🚩 COMPULSORY PORTAGE START
The red flag marks the start of a mandatory portage section. Riders must dismount and push or carry their bikes as instructed.

Failure to comply may result in a time penalty.

COMPULSORY PORTAGE END
The green flag marks the end of the compulsory portage section. Riders may remount and continue riding from this point.

STRAIGHT ARROW
Continue straight on the marked route.

ROUTE MARKERS / BUNTING TAPE
Markers and bunting tape confirm that you are on the correct route.

❌ WRONG WAY
You have left the marked course. Turn around and return to the last route marker, bunting tape, or course sign to rejoin the correct route.

SERVICE STATION AHEAD
Signs at 1 km and 200 m indicate the distance remaining to the next Service Station.

SERVICE STATION START / END
These signs indicate the beginning and end of a Service Station.

LITTERING ZONE START/END
Waste may only be discarded within the designated Littering Zones at Service Stations.

Any littering outside these zones is strictly prohibited and may result in a penalty.

KILOMETRES TO FINISH
The 5 km, 3 km, 2 km and 1 km signs indicate the remaining distance to the finish line.
