THE RULES

  • Matching jerseys: Both team members must wear identical cycling jerseys throughout the event (Rule 6.4).
  • Tracking Unit: Each team must carry the GPS tracking device provided by Swiss Epic throughout every stage (Rule 7.3).
  • Stay together: Team members must remain within 2 minutes of each other at all times (Rule 8).
  • Cut-offs: Maximum stage times are determined according to the length of each stage and the terrain to be covered. Maximum stage times and cut-off points during the stage are strictly enforced. The Race Director may designate intermediate cut-off points which must be reached by specific times on each stage. Teams not reaching a designated cut-off by the specified time will be removed from the course (Rule 15).
  • Official finisher status: Riders may continue racing after missing a stage cut-off, but will not be recognised as official finishers. If only one team member exceeds the maximum stage time, the other rider may still qualify as an official finisher (Rule 16).
  • Drafting: Riders may only draft behind their team partner or teams in the same race category. Drafting behind riders from other categories, the Elite Women, Outcast Riders, vehicles, or non-participants is prohibited (Rule 21).
  • Respect the women’s race: No rider may influence the outcome of the women’s competition (Rule 21).
  • No outside assistance: Supporters may not provide assistance to riders on the course (Rule 22.)
  • Withdrawals: Any rider withdrawing from the event must notify the Race Office (Rule 23).
  • Respect the environment: Littering and damage to the environment will not be tolerated (Rule 25.2).

Riders at the Swiss Epic race need to be respectful of both their fellow riders as well as the environment.

  • Rules of the road need to be adhered to at all times.
  • In Switzerland traffic drives on the right-hand side of the road
  • Roads and trails remain open to the public. Be aware of vehicles, pedestrians, livestock, and other trail users at all times.
  • Reduce your speed when passing through towns and populated areas.
  • Do not cut corners, as there may be oncoming traffic.
  • Follow signage instructions as well as verbal instructions from marshals.
  • Allow faster riders to pass and clearly communicate when overtaking another rider.
  • Respect the environment and leave no trace. Littering is strictly prohibited.

RACE WITHDRAWALS

If you need to withdraw from the race, please follow these important steps:

Inform: Inform a marshal or the Race Office, so we know you are safe.

Tracking Device: Please return your tracking device to the Race Office. A replacement fee of CHF 150 per device will be charged for any unreturned equipment.

Transport assistance: The Race Office can assist with rider, luggage and bike transport arrangements.

Transport: The Race Office can assist you with your personal and bike transport requirements.

Bike storage: Do not leave your bike in the Bike Park without prior approval from the Race Office. The organisers cannot accept responsibility for lost or damaged bikes. If your bike remains in the Bike Park, please ensure the Bike Sticker stays attached.

Bike Box/Private Luggage: Bike boxes can only be collected in Davos on the final day of the event.
