A Message of Support

Alan Winde
Premier of the Western Cape
Cycling has always been more than a sport to me. It is a reminder that progress comes through persistence and that the most rewarding journeys are often the toughest. The Cape Epic captures that spirit perfectly. It tests endurance, resilience, teamwork, and determination — qualities that define not only great athletes, but great communities.
The Cape Epic is the epitome of endurance and resilience. But amid the toiling lies inspiration and grit.
Each year, this world-class event showcases the very best of the Western Cape: our breathtaking landscapes, our warm hospitality, unique cultures, and our ability to host major international events with excellence. Riders from across South Africa and around the globe come to challenge themselves on our trails, and in doing so, they experience the natural beauty and vibrant spirit of our province.
But beyond the race itself, the Cape Epic plays a vital role in our economy. Events like this are powerful economic drivers.
The Epic supports local businesses, from guesthouses and restaurants to tour operators and logistics teams. It creates jobs, drives tourism, and injects significant revenue into towns and rural communities along the route. Events like this are powerful economic drivers.
To all those who make this spectacular event possible each year, well done and keep up the good work. To those taking part, good luck, stay safe and give it your all. We look forward to welcoming you to the Western Cape for another extraordinary 2026 Cape Epic.
